Shoes for Photo Shoot
Bad shoes can ruin a shoot.
The best shoe to bring is a classic pump high heel. Get a 4″ or 5″ heel. A classic thin heel pump closed toe shoe:
Same advice holds true for boots. Try to get boots that are tight against the calves and come just below the knees. Ankle books are cute too. Basic color is black. You want high thin heels:
Red heels and blue heels are fun looks if matched to a red or blue outfit or swimwear. If you have something that matches, bring different color heels as well.
Shoes tend to blend into pictures and are not as noticable as they appear in the studio. So I encourage younger models to wear heels. Not only does it lengthen the leg and force better posture but it gives the girl a more model look and confidence.
Also bring a pair of slippers or flip flop sandals to the shoot. The model will need something to wear in the studio. Studio floors are usually dirty and you don’t want to walk in bare or stockinged feet and get dirty feet in the pictures. It’s customary to keep the model’s shoes at the edge of the shooting area to keep them clean and organized so the model can take them on and off there and wear slippers to the dressing and make up room.
Do not bring wedgie shoes or weird European shoes. I’ve seen photo shoots ruined because the model or wardrobe artist insisted on wearing ridiculous shoes:
